ARLINGTON – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) recently awarded Nathan the five-year US Support for Economic Growth in Asia (US-SEGA) contract valued at approximately $24 million. Under US-SEGA, Nathan will partner with USAID’s Asia Bureau and the U.S. Department of State to promote effective, transparent and inclusive economic growth policies and best practices in a range of technical areas, including trade and investment, market systems development, business enabling environment, access to finance, and women’s economic empowerment.

US-SEGA will build on the achievements of the US-APEC Technical Assistance to Advance Regional Integration program, providing technical assistance and capacity building to help APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) member economies advance regional economic cooperation and free and open trade. The program will also support USAID-funded economic growth programs in Asia by providing USAID Asia Bureau, as well as regional and bilateral USAID missions, with a flexible, demand-driven mechanism to pilot new and innovative economic growth approaches and activities that further economic reforms and promote best practices in the broader Indo-Pacific region.

“US-SEGA strengthens Nathan’s partnership with USAID and provides an opportunity for Nathan to work alongside other key U.S. government and private sector partners across the Indo-Pacific region,” said Susan Chodakewitz, Nathan’s President and CEO. Chodakewitz continued, “we are excited to build upon our commitment to support APEC and serve as a key partner to USAID and the U.S. Department of State in its implementation of the U.S.’s Indo-Pacific Strategy.”
