May 2 The Botswana Trade Portal has been successfully completed and is now the primary source of information on trading across Botswana’s borders. The portal will contribute to improving the transparency and accountability of transactions, and efficiency of trade. A trade portal is a comprehensive, user-friendly website that includes information from government ministries and agencies about regulations, documentation requirements, duties, fees, taxes, restrictions, and appeals processes in clearing goods at borders. Colombia Signs New Customs Decree Facilitating Trade

April 12, 2016 Colombia’s President Juan Manuel Santos in March signed a new Customs Decree that will facilitate trade processes and improve economic competitiveness. The decree strengthens protections against risky cargo while facilitating the clearance of items that do not represent risk, increases the use of electronic payments, and promotes voluntary compliance with customs obligations. February 16, 2016 Economic analysis by Russell W. Mangum III, senior vice president at Nathan Associates, prevailed in a patent decision involving LED semiconductor ighting products. After ruling last month that Everlight Electronics Co. had infringed three patents held by plaintiff Nichia Corp., U.S. District Judge Rodney Gilstrap in Marshall, Texas, declined to issue an injunction.
