ARLINGTON, October 22 — The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) recently awarded Nathan the USAID Transparency and Inclusive Growth Activity (USAID TIGA). This is a four-year, $19 million program that will assist with mitigating the economic causes of conflict and inequality in Burma (Myanmar) with a focus on management of shared resources, infrastructure development, and economic reforms that promote inclusive growth.

USAID TIGA will build on the achievements of USAID’s Private Sector Development Activity (PSDA), also implemented by Nathan, which supported reforms to advance inclusive economic growth. TIGA will advance a development model characterized by free enterprise and self-reliance for Burma through key interventions, including the reform of economic sectors that contribute to conflict; more equitable and transparent management of shared resources; and improvement of infrastructure assessment and management.

Given the dynamic socioeconomic nature of Burma, TIGA will apply an adaptable model of project implementation that builds on USAID’s Collaboration, Learning, and Adaptation (CLA) framework. The adaptive management approach will ensure that TIGA’s activities are evidence-based, iterative, and targeted to support program objectives throughout the project lifecycle.

“We’re delighted to bring our expertise in economic reform, infrastructure management, and adaptive project management to USAID TIGA,” said Susan Chodakewitz, Nathan’s President and CEO, continuing, “Nathan is proud of its rich history in Burma, and we look forward to continuing to work effectively with USAID on promoting inclusive and sustainable growth in the country.”
