The purpose of US-ATAARI is to help the APEC Secretariat and APEC member economies eligible for foreign assistance to advance economic integration and achieve the Bogor Goals of free and open trade and investment.
The project has two components. Through Component 1, Nathan is supporting APEC’s ongoing work in trade and investment liberalization, business facilitation, and economic and technical cooperation, as well as activities that accord with U.S. foreign policy priorities. Component 2 will build APEC’s institutional capacity for strategic planning and support its work program. The project will produce policy studies, capacity assessments, training assessments, and advise APEC on integration, trade liberalization, and institutional management.
Nathan has two teams managing the project, one in the APEC Secretariat in Singapore and the other in Washington, D.C. Management is also provided through USAID’s Regional Development Mission for Asia and through the Office of Trade and Regulatory Reform of the Bureau for Economic Growth, Education, and Environment in Washington. Funding and strategic direction are provided by U.S. Department of State.
