ARLINGTON, April 28 — The latest annual federal data on mesothelioma diagnoses in the United States became available on April 15, 2020. The data reports on rates of mesothelioma diagnoses during 2017, as determined from “cancer registries” from a sampling of hospitals in the United States.

The rates of mesothelioma diagnoses for male individuals (and overall) appear to be decreasing or flat except for female individuals (where the rate is flat or increasing).
Since 2016, the estimated number of overall mesothelioma diagnoses decreased from 3,255 to 3,120. The estimated number of mesothelioma diagnoses for male individuals decreased from 2,506 to 2,261 and increased for female individuals from 749 to 860.
