ARLINGTON, October 16 — Nathan is pleased to announce that Russell W. Mangum III, Senior Vice President in our Litigation & Expert Services practice, has been honored by the American Antitrust Institute (AAI) with a 2019 Antitrust Enforcement Award in the category of “Outstanding Antitrust Litigation Achievement in Economics.”

Awards in this category are given to leading legal economists who have contributed to the development of methodology, analysis, or policy related to antitrust legislation. AAI has honored Dr. Mangum with this award for his work on the matter In re Transpacific Passenger Air Transportation Antitrust Litigation, a case involving allegations of price fixing on fuel surcharges and fares.

Dr. Mangum, serving as the designated and testifying expert economist in the case, authored several reports and gave expert testimony. His analysis used an innovative approach to a complex market in order to support class certification and calculate damages, and his work and opinions supported both the certification of two proposed classes and the class counsel’s efforts that resulted in settlement.

Honorees of the 2019 Antitrust Enforcement Awards will be recognized at a dinner following the AAI’s Annual Private Antitrust Enforcement Conference, on Tuesday, November 12, 2019.
