Alan P. Meister, Ph.D., a principal economist at Nathan Associates, recently published articles in two gaming law publications. In the inaugural issue of Indian Gaming Lawyer (Spring 2016), Dr. Meister's article, “The Economic Evolution of Indian Gaming,” examines the remarkable transformation of Indian gaming since the enactment of Indian Gaming Regulatory Act in 1988.

He discusses the latest performance of Indian gaming, the variation in performance across states and classes of Indian gaming, and challenges facing Indian gaming. In the latest issue of American Gaming Lawyer (Spring 2016), Dr. Meister's article, “Indian Gaming Supplies Stabilized Growth to Gaming Industry,” examines the recent growth of Indian gaming relative to that of other segments of the gaming industry. Included in both articles are statistics, tables, and charts from the recently released edition of the Indian Gaming Industry Report.

Over the past 15 years, Dr. Meister has conducted extensive research and analysis of the gaming industry, including Indian gaming, commercial casinos, racinos, card rooms, and online gaming.
