Alan P. Meister, Ph.D., a Principal Economist at Nathan Associates, participated in a panel on the “State of Indian Gaming” to help kick off the gaming industry's largest conference and tradeshow, Global Gaming Expo\r\n(G2E) 2015, hosted in Las Vegas by the American Gaming Association (AGA). During the panel on September 28, Dr. Meister provided an economic update on Indian gaming, including a look at historical and recent performance on a national basis, variation in performance across the country, and comparisons with other segments of the gaming industry.

Over the past 15 years, Dr. Meister has conducted extensive research and analysis of the gaming industry, including Indian gaming, commercial casinos, racinos, card rooms, and online gaming. His work has included industry and market analyses, economic and fiscal impact studies, public policy analysis, evaluations of regulations, economic assessments of land-in-trust gaming applications, analyses of tribal-state gaming compacts and revenue sharing, feasibility studies, tribal socioeconomic needs assessments, surveys, and economic research, analysis, and expert testimony in litigation and regulatory matters.

He has provided consulting to gaming operators and suppliers, tribes, investors, and federal and state governments. Dr. Meister has also conducted years of independent, scholarly research on the gaming industry and written a number of publications, most notably his annual study, the Indian Gaming Industry Report. His gaming work is relied on by the industry, governments, and investors.

Furthermore, his research and analyses have been relied upon before the United States Supreme Court and the World Trade Organization, and cited by the Supreme Court. In addition, he was previously commissioned by the National Indian Gaming Commission to independently analyze the economic effects of proposed regulatory changes.
