Alan P. Meister, Ph.D., a principal economist at Nathan Associates and a leader in the economics of Indian gaming, participated in two conference sessions this week at the 31st annual Indian Gaming Tradeshow & Convention, the longest-running gaming trade show and the country's largest gathering of tribal leaders and casino executives, which was hosted by the National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA).

In his first session, The Economic Impact of Indian Gaming Telling the Story, Dr. Meister discussed methods for quantifying and communicating to tribal members, non-tribal governments, and the general public the economic impacts of Indian gaming on and off tribal reservations.

He also shared results from his latest national economic impact study.  In the second session, Dr. Meister was joined by Samuel Daughety of Dentons and Aurene Martin of Spirit Rock Consulting to provide an “Economic, Legal, Regulatory, & Legislative Update on Indian Gaming.”

In the economic update, Dr. Meister shared highlights from the recently released 14th edition of his annual study, the Indian Gaming Industry Report, including key statistics and trends, comparisons to other gaming segments, anda future outlook.
