On behalf of the World Bank, Nathan Associates assisted Kazakhstan’s customs administration and Customs Control Committee in developing a customs legal regime that provides a legal basis for electronic processes and other modern procedures and is consistent with international standards and best practices.

Our experts:
(1) analyzed current legislation and recommended changes to bring legislation into accordance with international best practices
(2) drafted legislative amendments and revised amendments on the basis of stakeholders’ comments

The modernized regime will result in faster customs clearance, lower costs for the Customs Control Committee and traders, and require fewer documents of traders. Legal reforms will also improve the functioning of the Customs Union and eliminate legislation inconsistent with modern customs processes, thereby creating a better business environment.
