Shedding Light on Zimbabwe’s Economy

2007

Funded by USAID’s Country Analytic Project, this study compares the performance of Zimbabwe’s economy to that of Zambia and South Africa, “the medians for low-income countries and low-income Sub-Saharan Africa”, and its own performance before 1998. The findings are not encouraging but make clear three priorities: macroeconomic stabilization; private sector rehabilitation, promoting the rule of law; and investing in infrastructure. Mr. John Robertson, a leading independent Zimbabwean economist, and the Fund for Peace contributed to the study.
