For Michigan State University (MSU), Nathan identified an innovative approach to collect data on adoption of agriculture technology by groundnut farmers in two districts of Andhra Pradesh. Nathan conducted a pilot survey of 800 groundnut farmers in each of the two districts using this approach of data collection.

Nathan developed the data collection tool using mobile phone/tablet technology due to its widespread availability, reach, usage, and affordability. The approach of local enumerators collecting information using this technology would reduce the cost of data collection substantially; while at the same time maintaining quality.
