APEC Workshop on Best Practices for Attracting Renewable Energy Financing and Investment

As demand for reliable energy continues to grow in the Asia-Pacific, economies are turning towards renewable energy solutions to increase access and security. One of the greatest barriers to developing new renewable projects is financing. To help overcome this barrier, the APEC Workshop on Best Practices for Attracting Renewable Energy Financing and Investment will bring together policymakers, experts, and investors to exchange ideas about best practices for creating an enabling environment to attract financing for wind and solar projects. This workshop will build the capacity of those involved in renewable energy projects, and provide an opportunity for effective engagement between governments and the private sector, financing organizations, and other stakeholders.

Dr. Adam Borison and the Nathan team will provide an overview of global renewable energy, and then highlight recent findings on the key enablers around the world behind successful financing, investment and development of grid-connected wind and solar. This overview will be followed by an in-depth discussion of renewable energy success stories among economy representatives, renewable energy developers and US and multilateral funders. The workshop will conclude with recommendations for specific next steps that APEC economies can take to increase the adoption of renewable energy. The workshop is being held as part of Power Week Asia on November 16 and 17 at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Singapore.
