For the Consumer Unity & Trust Society (CUTS), a not-for-profit organization, Nathan analyzed the existing policies, regulations, laws and practices in the electricity sector of India and assessed the success of regulations in meeting their objectives of generating and sustaining competition in the sector. The study was based on both stakeholder discussions and secondary research and analysis, with the objective of assisting in the framing on the National Competition Policy. Nathan also analyzed the political economy factors that influenced the extent to which competition principles were implemented in the sector.
