The World Bank desired to increase intra-Africa trade along transport corridors in eastern and southern Africa. Nathan identified a strategic transport network for the region that could serve the current and future freight transport needs of 15 countries and 15 corridors. We estimated current and future trade flows, assessed the logistic conditions in all corridors under study, recommended an action plan to accommodate future traffic flows, and evaluated the potential for developing public-private partnerships to execute various action plan projects.
