Nathan was commissioned by the British High Commission to conduct a scoping study on the fintech industry in India and provide an evidence-based assessment of its growth potential. The study team proposed using a market systems diagnostic framework to map out the key stakeholders at the supply, demand, support functions and policy and regulatory levels, and understand their current and future roles in the sector and the constraints that they face.

Given that the UK is one of the world’s leading supplier of fintech services, Nathan team also studied in detail the growth of fintech in UK, and identified the factors that have facilitated the development of an enabling environment in the country that balances innovation with stability and also identify areas where there are the greatest opportunities for UK fintech firms to align with the needs of the Indian market.

The study team engaged in discussions with relevant stakeholders to understand the nuances of the sector in India.
