The ASEAN-US Technical Assistance and Training Facility provided comprehensive support for ASEAN integration through a collaborative, demand driven, and flexible assistance program.

The Facility was housed in the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, and funded by USAID and the U.S. Department of State under the ADVANCE program.

The Facility’s strategy was aligned with ASEAN’s own Roadmap for an ASEAN Community that incorporates the blueprints for the political-security, economic, and socio-cultural communities.

The Facility supported a wide variety of activities, including the ASEAN Regional Forum, the Human Rights Resource Center for ASEAN, the scorecard for the ASEAN Economic Community Blueprint, customs cooperation, a trade facilitation assessment, and a migrant worker law and regulation repository.

The Facility also supported ASEAN in its response to Cyclone Nargis, delivered training in post-disaster damage assessment and needs analysis, and supported ASEAN’s pandemic preparedness and response program.

Other areas of focus for the Facility included human rights, migrant labor rights, trade facilitation, standards harmonization, climate change, ASEAN awareness, education, disaster management, anti-money laundering, support for trafficked persons, and pandemic preparedness for avian influenza.
