- Resource Type: Report
In support of the Women in Transportation (WiT) initiative of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, Nathan has developed two documents: (1) the 2015 APEC WiT Data Framework and Best Practices Report, which presents a framework for benchmarking and tracking the participation and influence of women as transportation workers, entrepreneurs, leaders and travelers and (2) the 2017 APEC WiT Best Practices Compendium Update, which supplements the 2015 report to include more recent information about government and businesses’ efforts to increase women’s engagement in transportation.
The 2017 Compendium Update integrates the original compendium published in the 2015 report, updating previous entries and supplying information about a range of new activities and resources. This Update aligns with the Data Framework and includes brief summaries of each pillar and component. Informed and inspired by the Update’s more than 80 illustrative examples—drawn from surveys, research, and experiences shared through the Transportation Working Group—the whole region can increase efforts to address this important opportunity for sustainable women’s economic empowerment. As a supplement to the analysis undertaken in the 2015 report, the purpose of the Update is to reflect the ever-growing number of impactful programs and initiatives across the APEC region. Together, the APEC community can use the WiT Data Framework to expand the resources available to public and private-sector actors, share lessons learned, and deepen the APEC WiT network.
