Through this USAID-funded project, Nathan improved trade facilitation and market access for agricultural value chains in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. The project supported these countries in achieving inclusive economic growth through inter-regional trade and exports and alliances among public and private sector actors.

Our team:

• Worked with small and medium agricultural producers to improve market relationships, increase the value-added of traded products, and promote compliance with product standards;
• Supported the development of regional value chains by identifying and reducing trade costs across borders; promoting public-private dialogue on trade facilitation; harmonizing trade and investment laws, regulations, and procedures;
• Developed regional trade and customs certification and trade facilitation leadership programs; and
• Strengthened the institutional and operational capacity of the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration.

To support these objectives, the project awarded grants to improve the competitiveness of small producers and to support trade capacity building and trade facilitation advocacy in the private sector.

In 2018, Nathan was awarded a follow-on project to RTMA, USAID’s Central America Regional Trade Facilitation and Border Management Project (TFB).
