Nathan Associates Inc. led the IFC-funded Bosnia Microfinance Market Research Project from July to December 2013. We analyzed all aspects of the microfinance market in Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH), conducting a literature review, examining secondary data, and gathering primary data through a survey of microfinance organizations and 1,600 microfinance clients.

We then developed several models to estimate the size of the country’s market for microfinance.

We presented our findings and recommendations at two roundtables in BiH and at a meeting with the Central Bank of BiH.

Our final report estimated the size of the microfinance market, provided client demographics and profiles, described how clients are using microcredit, and speculated on the future of microfinance in BiH.
