An accomplished engineer who helped Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation find and fix the flaw that caused Black Hawk helicopters to crash under certain conditions, Ms. Perlowitz founded Reliable Integration Services in 1988, partnering with IBM and launching a technology company that soon counted federal, state, and local governments and high-profile companies such as AT&T, CSC, and SAIC among its clients. Ms. Perlowitz managed every aspect of Reliable’s operations, from strategic planning and financing to organizational development.
In 1997, she founded RISPlex Corporation, a telecommunications equipment manufacturer. She sold RISPlex in 2000 through a private transaction and Reliable in 2007 to ATS Corporation, a global technology firm. She is currently a senior vice president at ATS. A leader in the Northern Virginia IT and business community since the 1990s, Ms. Perlowitz is active in nearly a dozen IT and business organizations, mentors young women in engineering, and has set up a scholarship for women in technology at Northeastern University, her alma mater.
