Meister Publishes in Indian Gaming Law Magazine News Feed

May 22, 2017—Principal Economist Alan P. Meister, Ph.D. examines the continuing growth trend for Indian gaming in his latest article, "Indian Gaming's Growing Trend." The latest data and analysis show that Indian gaming not only outdid its performance in recent years, it also outpaced the growth of other U.S. casino gaming segments, as well as that of the general economy.

The article, which was featured in the Spring 2017 issue of Indian Gaming Lawyer, published by International Masters of Gaming Law (IMGL), also showed wide variation in the performance of Indian gaming depending on location, gaming facility size, and class of gaming. Dr. Meister’s article highlights some of the key findings from the recently released edition of his annual study, the Indian Gaming Industry Report.

For over 17 years, Dr. Meister has conducted extensive research and analysis of the gaming industry, including Indian gaming. His research and analyses have been relied on in matters before the U.S. Department of the Interior, United States Supreme Court, and the World Trade Organization. He was also commissioned by the National Indian Gaming Commission to independently analyze the economic effects of proposed changes in Indian gaming regulations. Dr. Meister’s work is frequently cited in the media, and his studies are a trusted resource for government and regulatory agencies, investors, and the gaming industry itself, as well as associated industries. In 2014, Dr. Meister’s annual Indian Gaming Industry Report was also cited by the U.S. Supreme Court in its decision in Michigan v. Bay Mills Indian Community et al.
